Born into a musical family in São Paulo, Brazil, CéU has shown surprising maturity during her rapid ascension to international notoriety. She teamed up with fellow-Brazilian producer Antonio Pinto for her 2005 debut album, nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2006. Rooted in samba, her music is an artful mix of electro-jazz, soul and folk. Many have described her as the new voice of modern Brazil.
